Mexican work visa from application to entry

Categories:

After choosing the most cost-effective Mexican immigration among many immigration methods, I personally experienced the following process

  1. Apply for a work permit. I provided my resume (Spanish version) and passport photo. After successfully matching the position, I handed it over to the lawyer for processing. I waited for more than a week and the electronic version of the work permit was returned.
  2. Interview After getting the work permit, the next step is to make an appointment for an interview at the Mexican embassy or consulate (regardless of the country). My approval came in mid-September, but the Shanghai Consulate has been lined up until January, and Guangzhou has been lined up until November. Because I have a Korean visa, I made an appointment with the Mexican Embassy in Seoul. After preparing the interview materials, you can go to the designated place on time. The interview is mainly to review the authenticity of the work contract and personal conditions. My English is not very good, and I stumbled when answering the visa officer’s questions, but I remembered the general interview questions in advance, so I didn’t answer them wrong. However, sometimes the interviewer will ask some questions that are not within the scope. For example, her last question asked me, your English is not very good, how can you be qualified for this job? I answered her that my working language is Chinese plus a little English. She thought it was reasonable, so she passed. For colleagues who are not good at English, I suggest that you do the interview in your home country, because the embassy or consulate has interpreters, and you can do the interview in the language of your country. For example, if you don’t know Korean or Japanese, you can only do the interview in English. The visa fee is 53 US dollars. You can pick up your visa and passport in the afternoon or the next day after the interview in China. I got my visa and passport in Korea 7 working days later. (The passport must be handed in to the embassy or consulate when the visa is affixed. You cannot leave the country without a passport, so I stayed in Korea for 11 days)
  3. Entry Mexico’s entry is quite strict, and it is said that many people are deported. But in fact, only those who have a third-country visa exemption and poor language skills or lack of supporting documents will have a higher probability of deportation. When I personally entered the country, no one on the same plane with a work visa was deported. Even a 50-year-old uncle who could not speak a word of English was questioned with a business visa and was released. Work visas are generally released after being asked one or two questions. A chef who was traveling with me also did not speak a word of English and could not understand any of the questions asked, but he also passed the customs smoothly in the end. The entry inspection is divided into two channels, one for citizens and the other for foreigners. After the citizen channel is empty, the staff will shout in the foreigner channel, asking those with Mexican residence cards to queue up in the citizen channel. I was also selected to the citizen channel for entry inspection with a work visa. This side should be more relaxed. No questions were asked to me. I was directly released with canja 30.
  4. Card replacement Within 30 days after entry, go to the Immigration Bureau to make an appointment to queue up and replace the card. The whole process is smooth. If you don’t speak English or Spanish, bring a translation app and there will be no big problems.
There are rumors online that the work approval documents were not passed through the review. Possible problems include: the salary is too low, the company that provides the position is not qualified enough, and the personal resume does not match the position. The overall pass rate is very high. As for the interview for the work visa, the pass rate seems to be more than 90%, which is much higher than the pass rate for tourist visas and business visas. The reason for failing the interview is mostly due to incorrect answers or inability to answer, which causes the visa officer to doubt the authenticity of the work contract.
